Purple Gator prepping for Mardi Gras

By LYNETTE SOWELL Cove Leader-Press The King Cake is a Mardi Gras tradition that goes back hundreds of years, and New Orleans natives Toni and Terrance Washington are serving up King Cake in downtown Copperas Cove at The Purple Gator on South 2nd Street.

By PAMELA GRANT Cove Leader-Press Parents and children had a “tea-rific” time at the Rabbit Fest Royalty’s Daddy/Mommy and Me Sweetheart Tea. Two separate Sweetheart Tea times were held at Bearables on Saturday at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and cost $10 per person with a limit of 24 people per event.

Copperas Cove KFC to get remodel

Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise KBP Foods recently announced the remodel of its Copperas Cove restaurant as part of a multi-million dollar nationwide KFC brand revamp effort. The restaurant’s dining room is set to close on just after Monday, Feb.

City’s sales tax revenues continue to rise

By LYNETTE SOWELL Cove Leader-Press For the second month of the new year, Copperas Cove will be receiving a higher sales tax rebate check for February 2017 compared to February 2016. This month’s check will be for $458,317.34, up 5.71 percent compared to the $433,529.
