Nine seniors ink to play college sports

By TJ MAXWELL   Nine more Copperas Cove Bulldawgs and Lady Dawgs have signed with colleges to play their respective sports on the next level. Those studentathletes were recognized during a signing ceremony Wednesday at the school.

Cove football moving in right direction

By TJ MAXWELL   Over a third of spring practice has come and gone and Copperas Cove head football coach and athletic director Jack Welch likes the direction the team is heading, especially on defense where the coaching staff is really focusing their attention in the early goings.

Chancellor picked up by Chargers as free agent

By TJ MAXWELL   Brelan Chancellor, a former running back for the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs turned star returner and slot receiver for the University of North Texas, was picked up by the San Diego Chargers as an unrestricted free agent on the final day of the NFL draft.

By TJ MAXWELL   One thing that’s obvious by watching Copperas Cove football practice is the size, strength and speed in the box defensively. The defense is coming off a season where they gave up 36.2 points per game in 10 regular season games and one playoff outing.

By TJ MAXWELL   Despite missing their goal of reaching the playoffs, the Bulldawgs can be proud of their turnaround season that finished two games over .500 and tripled their district wins for their best finish in recent memory.
Copperas Cove senior Kyle Winstead will attend the Baseball Factory camp for an opportunity to go to the Omaha National World Series in June. Winstead led the Dawgs with a .387 batting average and .408 slugging percentage.

By TJ MAXWELL   Copperas Cove senior Kyle Winstead wants just one more chance to get in front of anyone that might help him take the next step in his baseball career and he’s hoping that with help from the community his trip to the Omaha National World Series on June 14-19 will aide in that quest.

Letzer named to TASCO All-State squad

BY TJ MAXWELL   The accolades continue to roll in for Shelbie Letzer and the Lady Dawgs soccer program. Letzer becomes the firstever Copperas Cove soccer player to be selected to the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches All-State Team.
