By TJ MAXWELL   WACO - The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs had 11 athletes qualify and the Lady Dawgs advanced two athletes to the 7-5A & 8-5A Area Track & Field Meet in Waco on April 15. The bulk of the Cove point totals came from the field events where they are again strong.

Five Cove athletes sign with colleges

By TJ MAXWELL   Five Copperas Cove athletes participated in a signing ceremony at the high school on Wednesday morning. Three footballers, a volleyballer and a swimmer inked commitment papers to continue their education and compete at the collegiate level in their respective sports.

By DAVID MORRIS   While many who look at Ogletree Gap Park along Highway 190 at the west end of Copperas Cove see a grove of cedar trees and historic buildings beneath a cascade of hills and hidden trails, Parks and Recreation Director Joseph Pace sees an opportunity for a Frisbee disc golf course.

Youth baseball/softball seasons underway

By TJ MAXWELL   Copperas Cove youth baseball and softball 2014 season is officially underway – at least practice, anyway. Some 713 participants make up the 55 teams competing this year. That is a four-percent increase from a year ago.

Lions Club hosts annual golf tourney

By TJ MAXWELL   The Copperas Cove Lions Club raised over $4,800 during their 26th annual golf tournament at the Hills of Cove Golf Course in Copperas Cove on Saturday despite a less than stellar turnout, both in tournament participants and sponsorships.

Dawgs drop contest with Temple 4-2

By TJ MAXWELL   Turbulent weather bringing thunderstorms and golf-ball size hail through the area on Friday forced a change of venues after field conditions at Bulldawg field were deemed unplayable. Turbulent would aptly describe the last few outings for the Bulldawg baseball team as well.

Cove ties for first place at Big Red Relays

By TONY ADAMS   The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs track team came out in full force at the Big Red Relays last Saturday in Belton in their final tune up for the District 8-5A Meet in Hewitt on Friday and Saturday. The Dawgs finished tied with Belton for first overall with 169 points.
