By TJ MAXWELL   Aggressive defense and an opportunistic offense guided the Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs to a 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25- 22, 28-26) victory over the 11-6A tri-champion Rockwall Lady Jackets Tuesday night at Corsicana High School.
Copperas Cove running back Trent Canion leads the Dawgs in rushing with 1,086 yards and 10 touchdowns on the year. The Bulldawgs finished the regular season 7-3 and second in District 12-6A. They await the results on the final regular season game to find out who their opponent will be.

By TJ MAXWELL   Former Cove volleyball standout Qiana Canete continues to put up impressive numbers in her freshman year at the University of Texas at Arlington. In her first year at the next level, she leads her team in kills with 316 and is second on the team with 398 kills.

By TJ MAXWELL   Some of the top runners in the state of Texas converged on Lynn Creek Park on the shores of picturesque Joe Pool Lake on Saturday for the UIL Region II Cross Country Championships.

The Lady Dawgs (35-10, 10-2) will face the Rockwall Lady Yellowjackets (25-14, 12-2) at 7 p.m. tonight at Corsicana High School in the Bidistrict round of the UIL 2014 State Volleyball Championships.

By TJ MAXWELL   The Copperas Cove Youth Football League tackle divisions begin their postseason play this Saturday with all games played at the Avenue E. field. In Division I, the Cowboys (2-4) and Lions (1-5) playing at 9 a.m. in Game 1. The Eagles (4-2) and Seahawks (1-5) will play at 10:15 a.m.
