Dawgs wrestle at Ellison Invitational

By TJ MAXWELL   The Copperas Cove Dawgs’ wrestling team competed in the Ellison Invitational Dual Tournament on Saturday. The Dawgs took down Vandegrift but suffered losses to Ellison, Shoemaker and Bryan.

Behara had a game-high 16 points, along with eight rebounds and six blocks for the Dawgs. Cove improved to 10-5 with the win. They are playing in the Round Rock Tournament this weeknd before returning home to host Waco LaVega on Tuesday.

By TJ MAXWELL   The Copperas Cove boys and girls bowling teams continued where they left off last year by earning a pair of wins each to begin the new season in the Texas High School Bowling Club’s Central Texas District.
Copperas Cove record-setting receiver Phillip Baptiste is tackled after hauling in a 45-yard pass as a freshman for the Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals during their 27-24 win over the Colleyville Community College Red Ravens during Game 1 of the CHAMPS HOT Bowl college double-header Saturday at Bulldawg Stadium. Baptiste’s grab set up the Cardinals at the three-yard line for the game-tying touchdown. The Cards finished their season 12-0 as the third-ranked team in NJCAA.

Dawg footballers honored at banquet

BY JOE LOMBARDI   Members of the 2014 Copperas Cove Bulldawg football teams were honored and applauded at the team’s annual awards banquet held Thursday night at the Copperas Cove Civic Center. Several peer-voted team awards were handed out to climax the ceremonies.

By TJ MAXWELL   The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs had big expectations for the Austin Bowie Tournament and those expectations were realized on Saturday as they dominated their way to a tournament title and a 9-5 overall record.
