Dawgs put together complete game in win over Knights

By TJ MAXWELL   The Bulldawg defense pitched a shutout and gave up just 213 yards of total offense to the Knights while the Cove offense piled on 540 yards of offense, including 351 rush yards, on their way to a convincing 41-7 playoff-clinching victory over the Knights on Friday.

Cove sweeps Heights 3-0

By TJ MAXWELL   The Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs continue to hone their skills for the 2014 playoff season with a 3-0 sweep of the Harker Heights Lady Knights Friday at Bulldawg Gymnasium. Senior captain Mikayla Blount recorded another triple-double in the lopsided 25- 11, 25-14, 25-11 contest.

Lady Dawgs rebound with sweep of Lady Roos

By TJ MAXWELL   Fresh off probably their worst loss of the season in a sweep last Friday against Midway, the Lady Dawgs showed no signs of wilting as they pounded the Killeen Lady Roos 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-10) to improve their playoff seeding and move to 33- 10, 8-2 on the season.

Taking Strides

By TJ MAXWELL   Anyone who follows Copperas Cove sports closely knows of the 2013-14 exploits of then-freshman Amber Boyd. As a freshman she was the only Cove runner to make it to regionals in cross country as well as in track with her fourthplace finish in the 800-meter run.

By TJ MAXWELL   The Copperas Cove tennis team was a few points away from advancing to the next round of the Area Team Tennis Tournament held in Waco this week. The Bulldawgs fought their way back into contention against Rockwall when it looked like they may be ousted early.

By TJ MAXWELL   The Texans flag football team leaped over the Broncos for first place in the 10-andunder division of the Copperas Cove Youth Football League with their 12-7 win over the Broncos Saturday at Copperas Cove City Park.

Bulldawg tennis, XC postseason begins

By TJ MAXWELL   The Copperas Cove team tennis and cross country squads get their 2014 playoff seasons underway tomorrow. The cross country squads, led by Amber Boyd on the girls’ side and Christian Schaffer on the boys’ side, will travel to Killeen for the District 12-6A cross country meet.
