Poised for Postseason

Things were looking bleak for the Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs’ basketball team on Friday night. Cove’s grip on third place in District 12- 6A was slipping away with a 6-for-30 shooting performance and 15 turnovers in the first half that left them in a 24- 15 deficit entering the second half.

By TJ MAXWELL   It was a must-win in the minds of the Lady Dawgs and the youngest member of the squad took that to heart. The Lady Dawgs fought their way to a 51-42 over the Belton Lady Tigers on Friday at Bulldawg Gymnasium, led by sophomore Chyanne Chapman’s double-double.

By TONY ADAMS   The Belton Tigers boys had a tough task on Friday night at Tiger Gym, as they took on the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs.
Cove senior Rashard Odomes is smothered by the Killeen defense as he goes up for a shot on Tuesday at Bulldawg Gymnasium. The Dawgs rallied late but were unable to overcome the Roos, eventually falling 72-69. Cove (15-10, 2-3) falls to fifth place in the district behind Killeen (3-3), Shoemaker (3-2), Elliosn (4-1) and Harker Heights (4-1).

By TJ MAXWELL   Cove wrestling is entering a pivotal point in their season with just over two weeks left until the district meet at Shoemaker on Feb. 7. They got their season moving in the right direction with a much-needed win over Killeen 36-27 Wednesday at Kangaroo Gymnasium.

By TJ MAXWELL   The Lady Dawgs came out firing on Tuesday against the Lady Roos in a battle for District 12-6A control, but it was Killeen that found their target. Missed shots and turnovers found the Cove girls in a battle to simply score points in the early goings.
