By TJ Maxwell.   TEMPLE – Then freshman phenom Amber Boyd splashed on the scene last year and earned a spot on both the cross country and track varsity teams. Boyd kicked off her sophomore year impressively as well with a second place finish at the Temple Invitational cross country meet on Friday.

By TJ Maxwell.   ABILENE – The Copperas Cove offense showed signs of their prolific power from a year ago and the defense bent, but didn’t break, on Friday morning during their annual scrimmage with Abilene High.
Offensive line coach Tracy Ranes gives instruction to his squad during practice Wednesday at the Copperas Cove athletic complex. The Bulldawgs get their first live action against another team when they scrimmage the Abilene Eagles today. The varisty plays at 11 a.m. with the JV on at 1:30 p.m. and the freshmen finishing up at 2:45 p.m.

By TJ MAXWELL   The Bulldawgs have been chomping at the bit all summer to get back on the field against another team after a tumultuous season that had one of the most prolific offenses in the state but fell short of their ultimate goals – winning district and state.

By TJ MAXWELL   Savannah Cook has been waiting for her time to shine and lead her Lady Dawgs to victory. She did just that on Tuesday at Round Rock Stony Point as the Lady Dawgs pounded the Tigers 3-0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-17) to improve to 11-1 on the season.

By TJ MAXWELL   The Copperas Cove tennis team improved their season record to 8-6 on Tuesday with a 14-5 win over the Lampasas Badgers. “Our boys had a big night tonight sweeping Lampasas 9-0,” said head coach Paul Talbett. “Our girls played well against a strong Lampasas team as well, going 5-4.

By TJ MAXWELL   Copperas Cove had its third senior football player commit to a division I collegeover the summer.  Jaylen Waters, the 6-foot, 2-inch, 229-pound inside linebacker, announced the commitment to play football for the Golden Gophers of Minnesota through a Twitter message.

By TJ MAXWELL   After jumping out to a strong start, winning four of their first five matches, the Copperas Cove tennis team ran into some tough competition during a busy week of action. The team lost five of eight matches to fall to 7-6 on the season.
