Judge Prugh passes away at age 94

By DAVID MORRIS   Walter Leon Prugh passed away Monday inside Scott and White Hospital in Temple, less than a month after his 94th birthday and two weeks after suffering a stroke and heart attack on his Kempner ranch.

By DAVID MORRIS   Copperas Cove residents should begin preparing themselves for their next year’s tax bill as city staff projects an increase of 2.5 cents from the effective rate of  $0.7517 per $100 value to $0.7774 per value in order to meet the budget requirements for the next fiscal year.

Customers paying less at pump than a year ago

Average retail gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 3.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.38/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 13,114 gas outlets in Texas. This compares with the national average that has fallen 4.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.

Lack and Taylor to runoff for Place 5 seat

By DAVID MORRIS   With one candidate failing to collect more than 50 percent of the 650 votes cast during the Special election frontrunners Kirby Lack and Azeita Taylor are headed to a runoff vote that will be called for during the August 5 regular meeting of the Copperas Cove City Council.
