CCHS alum is Top Chef

Copperas Cove class of 2008 alum and executive chef, Matt Cranfill, continued his winning streak at culinary competitions in the Central Texas area, this time winning the Top Chef award at last Tuesday’s Flavors of Central Texas, held at Killeen’s Civic and Conference Center. Cranfill, who from the time he was in middle school had a passion for cooking, is also a graduate of Austin’s Texas Culinary Academy. The Flavors of Central Texas welcomed guests to sample an array of local cuisine from restaurants and caterers, and the night also included several cooking competitions. Cranfill competed in the top chef category, which was held in a format similar to Food Network’s show Iron Chef.
