Progress Cove vows to continue work on liquor petition

By DAVID MORRIS   Members of the Progress Cove group who circulated a Local Option Election Petition to legalize the sale of alcoholic beverages to include mixed drinks learned their official fate Tuesday evening, falling more than 500 verified signatures short of having a valid petition.

City sees increase in sales tax from 2013

By LYNETTE SOWELL   The sales tax numbers for August 2014 are in, and the city of Copperas Cove’s tax rebate for the month is $318,505.67, up from $300,192.24 from August 2013, a 6.1 percent increase from last year, according to the report released from the office of state comptroller Susan Combs.
