A Copperas Cove man is dead and one suspect was taken into custody on Sunday after an early-morning stabbing.
Jory Enck was pronounced dead at Metroplex Hospital, where he was taken by Copperas Cove EMS after they transported him from a residence in the 4200 block of Primrose Drive after receiving a call around 5:30 a.m.
Online conversations on Facebook have suggested that Enck’s girlfriend, Shekita Dickens, was involved in the incident, but that has not been confirmed by the Copperas Cove Police Department. Attempts to reach the Dickens and Enck families were not successful as of press time.
Tyrone Dickens, Shekita’s brother, wrote on social media that “both families (are) stressing and crying over our losses.”
Some questioned self-defense as a motive to the incident as neighbors and friends said the pair had an on and off again relationship that included violence.
Another friend, Rick K. Gregory, wrote to Shekita, “You confided alot [sic] to me about what yall were going thru and never did I think it would come to this. Regardless of the what happened ill be here for you idk what happened but it shouldnt have went this far at all. R.I.P Jory whatever happened you didnt deserve this.”
Shekita I pray your ok, I know yall went thru alot. Im here for u, Love Ya homie.”
On Monday, October 13, 2014, 23 year old Copperas Cove resident Shekita Irene Dickens was arraigned on the charge of Murder by Coryell County Justice of the Peace John Guinn.
Shekita received a $500,000 surety bond and was transported to the Coryell County Jail. The incidentremains under investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
