By LYNETTE SOWELL   On Tuesday night, the Copperas Cove Independent School District board of trustees voted to accept the administration’s recommendation of James Irick as the new principal of Crossroads High School and the Avenue E Alternative Education campus.

BY DAVID MORRIS   Select members of the Copperas Cove High School choir performed an acapella rendition of My Country Tis of Thee during the weekly meeting before Father Chris Downey of Holy Family Catholic Church shared a message with the club.
Diana Bohn disposed of several unwanted tires with the help of city worker, Jay Alexander. Tire disposal normally costs $3 or $7 depending on size, but Covites were allowed to dispose of them for free during Saturday’s fall cleanup.

By DAVID MORRIS   Copperas Cove City Secretary Mariela Altott presented the official returns from the Nov. 4 ballots that held two council seat positions and eight city charter amendments.
Portions of Kenney Dr and Nathan Lane have been stripped down to road base after years of abuse have worn away the asphalt of the roads in the Sunset Estates subdivision north of Copperas Cove. The contractor of the subdivision went bankrupt prior to the completion of the project leaving the roads without repair for over a decade.

By LYNETTE SOWELL   Coryell County’s tax office in Copperas Cove is preparing to move to the Cove Terrace Shopping Center, around the time of the new year. This will allow the present annex location on Avenue D to expand its voting area, which will go where the current tax office is in place.
