Election Day runs from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. today in Copperas Cove

By LYNETTE SOWELL Cove Leader-Press  Voters go to the polls today for the general and special elections for the city of Copperas Cove.  A total of 690 Copperas Cove voters turned out during two weeks of early voting, which ended Friday. Overall in Coryell County, 1,683 voters cast early ballots.

Annual Oakalla VFD fajita dinner feeds hundreds

By LYNETTE SOWELL Cove Leader-Press  Hundreds of hungry diners turned out Saturday evening for the annual Oakalla Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday.  Held the first Saturday of November for decades, the night serves as one of two major fundraisers for the department each year.

VFW Post 8577 gearing up for 48th annual parade

Raising Cane’s holds fundraiser in honor of local transplant patient

Special to Leader-Press   In 1998, Copperas Cove resident Tammy Craddock was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathy. This came as quite a shock to her as there is no history of heart disease in her family.  Since she was diagnosed, Craddock’s health has steadily declined.

Oakalla VFD holding annual fajita dinner, auction tomorrow

By LYNETTE SOWELL Cove Leader-Press  The Oakalla Volunteer Fire Department is holding its annual fajita dinner and auction tomorrow from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., with the live auction starting at 7 p.m. For $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under, diners can have an all-you-can-eat fajita meal.
