Special to the Leader-Press   Registration is now open for the annual Mayfest 5K Fun Run, a community event benefiting local nonprofit organizations dedicated to the prevention of child abuse. The race will take place on Saturday, May 2, at 8:30 a.m.

By LYNETTE SOWELL Cove Leader-Press   The Copperas Cove city council approved the donation of two decommissioned ambulances to the Copperas Cove Independent School District and the Lampasas Independent School District.
The site of the March 16 fire across from the Coryell County Courthouse is fenced off. A fundraiser is set for April 25 to aid fire departments and employees of businesses affected by the fire.

The City of Copperas Cove purchased the former Heart of Texas Credit Union building several years ago with the thought that it would be a future Fire Station 4. Now, the City is looking at another use for the vacant building.
