Pardon me, but your bias is showing

The more I see the news, whether it’s real, #fakenews, #alternativenews, the more I believe that most of us really don’t want new information at all.  I think most of us are full of it. Bias, that is, and it’s called confirmation bias.

‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Lunacy

Donald Trump, much to his chagrin, never won an Emmy for “The Apprentice,” but he can now take indirect credit for a clutch of the awards.

Pitch Black

I don’t try to lead a dangerous, on-the-edge kind of life. I’m more of a play-it-safe, eat-your-veggies, go-to-bed-at-8:30 kind of girl. But sometimes I find myself on the brink of disaster anyway. Last night was one of those times.  I lead a writer’s group at my church on Wednesday nights.

Spirit groups need to learn sportsmanship

First, let me point out that I have nothing bad whatsoever to say about the Garland Sachse football team.  Not a word. The Mustangs earned their win over Copperas Cove last Friday with strong, skillful play and the Bulldawgs pushed them hard.  Even their coach said so.

Frosty Relationship

As I type this, I’m glaring at the upright freezer over in the kitchen.  Labor Day weekend. It was so simple. Mom and Dad were off to visit with family, and Rusty was at the vet for treatment. That left me to watch Bit in between church and work.

We don’t need any

It never fails. Whenever we find out a new business is coming to town, the comments start, some of them prefaced with the phrase “we don’t need any more _____” and fill in the proverbial blank.  Today a company is celebrating opening doors in Copperas Cove – Raising Cane’s.

What’s in a Name?

A new baby lives at our house. He has curly, reddish-blonde hair that looks very much like my daughter’s hair, which is a sure sign he belongs with us. Never mind the fact that I already have a dog. And four ducks. And far too many chickens.  This baby is a purebred miniature poodle.

True Blue fans live up to their names

About halfway through the fourth quarter Friday night, Bulldawg head coach Jack Welch liked what he saw.   He said so, too. Not only did the Dawgs own the Andrews Mustang Bowl scoreboard, but something else caught his eye as well.

A Bit Nuts

Maybe someone can explain this to me. Somehow. Some way. I don’t know.  It starts every evening about 9 PM or so. Most days, with work, church, errands, and other personal obligations, I don’t get online until well into the afternoon.

Beauty and the devil

Sometimes it takes forever to get me out of an art museum. When I’m at an art museum observing a painting, I look at the whole thing first. If I especially like it, I’ll step up for a closer look and take in the colors, the brush strokes, images in the painting. Details can be a beautiful thing.
