Cove House director gives update on free clinic

By LYNETTE SOWELL   Since the first Tuesday in November, area residents needing medical care have had access to Copperas Cove’s free medical clinic, operated by volunteers and sponsored by Cove House Emergency Homeless Shelter.

By LYNETTE SOWELL   As part of a longstanding company tradition, Chick-Fil- A began its grand opening celebration with a campout beginning Wednesday morning, as part of its “First 100” giveaway. About 130 hardy souls showed up before 6 a.m.

Council amends budget

By CORRISA PETERSON   The Copperas Cove City Council approved amending the city’s 2012- 2016 Personnel Improvement Plan and the 2013-2014 fiscal year budget at its regular meeting Tuesday evening.

Copperas Cove’s first Chick-fil-A restaurant will open Feb. 20, bringing nearly 70 new jobs and the chance for 100 adults to win free Chick-fil-A meals for a year as the chain marks the 50th anniversary of its signature Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich.

Cove sales tax revenues inch ahead from 2013

By LYNETTE SOWELL   Copperas Cove will receive a sales tax rebate for February 2014 in the amount of $418,157.85, which edged up 1.4 percent from the $412,354.56 the city received in February 2013, according to the monthly report from the office of state comptroller Susan Combs.

Primary voting begins

By CORRISA PETERSON   Early voting for the March 4 primary kicks off today and continues on to Feb. 28, with no voting occurring on Sunday, Feb. 23. The two locations for early voting in Coryell County are the Copperas City Council Chambers and the Gatesville Annex.
