The Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove met on Jan. 24 at Lil Tex Restaurant. President Dennis Ayres opened the meeting by asking the members to recite the Exchange Club Motto. Secretary Pat Thomas led the pledge to the American and Texas flags. Club Member Bill Minton offered the invocation.

By CORRISA PETERSON Another Stoney Brook of Copperas Cove resident celebrated a January birthday as Bobby L. Clayton turned 88 last Wednesday. Clayton came to Copperas Cove in 1942 to be a clerk/typist at Camp Hood after an aunt who was at the time living in Temple.

By LYNETTE SOWELL The area of the former Walmart location on U.S. Highway 190 will eventually no longer be used for storage, but will be one of the Stripes convenience store locations opening in late 2014. Stripes recently opened a store in Lampasas on Jan. 16.
