Cove powerlifters compete in local meets

By TJ MAXWELL Cove Leader-Press   The Copperas Cove High School powerlifters hosted a meet over the weekend with several lifters claiming top four finishes.   Jaylon Hannah lifted 1,000 pounds for a second-place finish in the 148-weight class to lead the boys’ squad.

By TJ MAXWELL Cove Leader-Press   The Lady Dawgs’ soccer team opened up district play Tuesday night against the Killeen Lady Kangaroos at home.   Senior Bailey French was credited with the shutout from the goalkeeper position while Le’Brittany Hodges earned the shutout for Killeen.

By TJ MAXWELL Cove Leader-Press   For the first 16 minutes, it looked like the first district win by the Belton Tigers was inevitable and the Bulldawgs’ chances at a postseason berth were all but over.
CCLP/TJ MAXWELL - Copperas Cove senior Joseph Hotz competes in the 200-yard freestyle relay during the District 12- 6A swim meet on Saturday at the Roy and Jean Potts Belton Swim Center. Hotz qualified in four events. He earned a silver medal in the 50-yard freestyle and anchored the 200-yard medley relay. 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
