Ralph Guldahl’s short but sweet golf career

Sam Snead was determined to beat the Texan, who only the week before had embarrassed him at the U.S. Open, in the final round of the Western Open on Jun.14, 1937.

Bad news bearers

One of the unfortunate realities of trying to sit down and write a column is that I spend a lot of my time trying to *not* turn each week’s installment into an absolutely massive rant about whatever insanity is going on in the world.

SING IT AGAIN!

Reader recalls impact of CCISD's Teacher of the Year

Reader recalls impact of CCISD’s Teacher of the Year I read in your paper (which is where I cut my teeth as a newspaperman in the mid-1980s) that Jan Stalder (who also worked there for many years) was named the Teacher of the Year for Copperas Cove High School. CCISD made a great choice!

Reader concerned with shrinking military numbers

Our military is shrinking and with the future looking as it does we cannot keep fighting wars with what we have. Recruiting is down as over 85 percent of youths say they probably won’t join or they will not join.
