Books on the road

In going through photos of my travels in the past several years, I’ve noticed a recurring theme I have. For some reason, whenever I see a bookstore, I’ll grab a picture of it. Not a “big name” book store—you know the ones, and I don’t need to mention them because they get enough advertising.

Getting canned

Making do

There’s an older phrase that people sometimes use to describe what we do when we can’t run out and buy the latest thing that comes off an assembly line somewhere. It’s called “making do.” We sometimes laugh at the older generation, born and raised during lean times.

He’s a Republican Now

Donald Trump, the erstwhile Democrat, independent and member of the Reform Party, finally has a fixed partisan identity. The president may be besieged, unpopular and prone to lashing out self-destructively, but all of this cements his bond to his party rather than erodes it.
