Christmas is a special time of year, especially for families. Kids of all ages were excited to chat with Santa and let him know what they were hoping to receive under the tree this year.

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) held their annual Breakfast with Santa Saturday from 8 a.m. until about 10:30 a.m. at the Copperas Cove Civic Center. They had areas set up where families could have their photos taken alongside Santa—and the Grinch! They had several breakfast options, a selfie/photo area, and a large variety of artistic options.

“The kids are excited about the arts and crafts,” said Caycee Hauck, Superintendent for Parks & Recreation. “There are a lot of smiles.”

An estimated 200 people attended this year’s breakfast. Food and drinks for the event were provided by HEB, Bush’s Chicken, Raising Cane’s, Chick-fil-A, and Domino’s. Food and beverages were served by the Copperas Cove Rotary Club.

“Helping people and bringing cheer, especially Christmas cheer is very rewarding,” said Brandon Guthrie, President of the Copperas Cove Rotary Club. “It’s been fun. Seeing the community come together has been very rewarding.”

Throughout the event, volunteers with the Rotary Club cooked up fresh pancakes and sausages and made sure a variety of drinks were available for pickup.

Haysley Small (5) said that her favorite part of the event was the food! She said that she also really enjoyed coloring the pictures provided. She said that she asked Santa for pretend camping stuff and a tent for her room.

Liz Hays brought her grandchildren, Haysley (5) and Elliott (3) Small. She said that this was her third year bringing her grandchildren.

“I love it. I think this is great. The kids absolutely love it,” said Hays. “They especially love the Grinch.”
