Not one, but two fires in the course of one week have destroyed the home at 1112 Randa Street.

The first blaze at the unoccupied residence broke out during the early morning hours of Saturday, February 9, with damage being confined inside the structure.

The house was in the process of being renovated and had been vacant for some time.

Less than one week later at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, another fire broke out.

Two fire engines, one ladder truck, two ambulances and a command vehicle being dispatched to the fire, according to Copperas Cove Deputy Fire Chief Gary Young.

The fire was under control in an hour, Young added. Then at 5:15 a.m. Friday, a small fire had kicked up in the already burned-out area, Young said. It took about 30 minutes to get that fire under control.

“The cause is being investigated at this time,” said Young. “The investigation of the first fire was not yet finalized and now that we have second fire, another investigation will be started.”
