Students work on inference at STAAR camp

On Saturday, Halstead Elementary’s fifth grade teachers along with other faculty and staff members hosted the year’s second STAAR camp. The STAAR camps are intended to better prepare students for their upcoming STAAR tests (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness). The event was open to all of Halstead’s fifth graders and lasted from 9 a.m. until noon. Christopher Owusu, Halstead’s fifth grade reading teacher, was in charge of Saturday’s camp gearing the day’s events towards helping students hone their inferring skills.
