Seventeen file for March primary election

March 1 is still more than three months away, but on Saturday, the opening day of filing for candidates in the Republican and Democratic parties, a total of 17 filed to run on the Republican ticket in the March 1, 2016 primary.

 

A number of positions in Coryell County are up for grabs this year, with two hot positions being that of Coryell County Sheriff and county commissioner for precinct 1, both with multiple candidates filing on day one. Both Sheriff Johnny Burks and Commissioner Jack Wall announced earlier this year their intentions to not seek reelection.
