Officer of Quarter helped solve kidnapping

By DAVID MORRIS

The Copperas Cove Morning Exchange Club named detective Rick Counter as the officer of the quarter for his investigative skills of an incident Sunday that involved a kidnapping and stolen vehicle from Killeen. Working the first shift, Counter responded to a report of possible domestic disturbance at a local motel. Before making contact with the involved persons he used an uncommon tactic, speaking with the front desk clerk first, learning the name of the person, registered to the room. Matching that of an adult female the Killeen Police department reported to have perpetrated a kidnapping earlier in the morning.
