The Negrete Firefighter Foundation is holding its 5th annual fundraiser, with a change of venue this year.
On Saturday, Aug. 22, from 4-10 p.m. the event will be held on the campus of Texas A&M University–Central Texas, located at 1001 Leadership Place, in Killeen.
The foundation was formed in memory of Jose Negrete, a Copperas Cove firefighter and paramedic who passed away in 2021.
The foundation raises funds for scholarships to the Killeen Fire Academy.
The family-friendly event will feature a silent auction, a dunking booth, face painting, bounce houses, food trucks, and performances by mariachi, belly dancers and Folklórico dancers, as well as a display of fire trucks from area cities. There will also be a DJ, cake walk, and giveaways throughout the evening. The event is free and open to the community.
