Elias Isreal, an award-winning, LA-based comic is bringing his family friendly Pop-Up Comedy show to Copperas Cove.

Elijah Tindall, who performs under the name Elias Isreal, has appeared on multiple television networks such as TLC, Comedy Central and ABC Family.

After spending 15 years as a youth pastor, Elias was concerned with the effects the entertainment industry was having on the youth he encountered, and began trying to bring a positive influence and hope through comedy.

“We have our gifting and our calling. One of my giftings is comedy and the way I translate messages into a comedic form to get a point across. In that, I feel called to be an influence and help to people in their times of hurting and time of need,” Elias said.

In addition to comedy shows at churches, camps, and corporate events, since 2006 he has brought his comedy show into correctional facilities throughout the country, such as the Randall County Jail in Amarillo, the Lubbock County Correctional Center, the Crabtree Correctional center in Helena, Okla., as well as the North Texas State Hospital.

Bringing hope to people is also what he said has him visiting the jails, correctional facilities and prisons.

“We have a general population comedy show, and then I invite them back for another session that is not general population, and it is faith-based thing, to where I tell them my story and what I believe,” Isreal said.

Occasionally he hears from inmates who have been impacted by the show, and even a prison guard or two.

Elias said one guard contacted him Facebook after an inmate handed him Elias’ book, “Scars,” and encouraged him to read it. “I don’t know who you are, but I was having a bad day, and he said I needed to read your book,” the guard wrote, thanking Elias for the book.

The Elias Isreal Pop-Up Comedy show is being held at Cadence Church, located next to Dollar Tree at 815 E. Business 190. The show is set for Saturday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m.

A suggested donation of $10 is requested, with proceeds going to fund the work Elias does with juvenile correctional centers, jails and prisons throughout the United States. Tickets may be reserved ahead of time at www.paypal.me/EliasIsreal.
