Central Texas College (CTC) is proud to recognize two individuals with strong ties to Copperas Cove, Assistant City Manager and Chief of Police Eddie Wilson and Command Sergeant Major Douglas Galick, as part of its 2026 Distinguished Alumni class.
The Distinguished Alumni designation honors graduates who have achieved exceptional success in their professions while bringing honor to Central Texas College through leadership, service, and community impact.
Eddie Wilson, a longtime public servant in Copperas Cove, has dedicated more than three decades to municipal government and law enforcement. Beginning his career as a Patrol Officer in 1989, Wilson rose through every major rank within the department before being named Chief of Police in 2016. In 2025, he was selected to also serve as Assistant City Manager, further expanding his leadership role in guiding city operations and strategic initiatives.
Throughout his career, Wilson has championed innovation in public safety, officer wellness, and leadership development. Under his direction, the Copperas Cove Police Department achieved accreditation through the Texas Police Chiefs Association in 2022, an accomplishment reached by only a small percentage of agencies statewide. A graduate of Central Texas College, Wilson has also served as an adjunct instructor, helping develop the next generation of law enforcement professionals.
Command Sergeant Major Douglas Galick, also a CTC graduate, has built a distinguished career in the United States Army, currently serving as the Command Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Since enlisting in 1996, Galick has held numerous leadership positions around the world, supporting engineering operations and military readiness at the highest levels.
His military service includes assignments across the United States and overseas, as well as combat deployment experience. Highly decorated, Galick’s honors include the Legion of Merit, multiple Bronze Star Medals, and numerous commendations recognizing his leadership and dedication. In addition to his academic achievements at CTC, he has earned advanced degrees and certifications supporting his continued professional growth.
Both Wilson and Galick exemplify the values of service, leadership, and lifelong learning that define Central Texas College alumni, said said Valerie Payson, Executive Director of the Central Texas College Foundation.
“These distinguished alumni represent the very best of Central Texas College,” Payson said. “Each honoree reflects a commitment to excellence, leadership, and service that brings tremendous pride to the College and demonstrates the lasting impact of a CTC education.
“The recognition highlights the significant contributions both men have made, not only in their respective professions, but also in strengthening the communities they serve, including Copperas Cove and the broader Central Texas region.”
