Two dead after officer-involved shooting in Copperas Cove

The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting death of a Copperas Cove police officer and another individual on Saturday, Jan. 10. 

Sgt. Bryan Washko with the Texas Department of Public Safety issued a statement on Sunday morning. 

At the request of the Copperas Cove Police Department, the Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred on January 10, 2026, and resulted in the on-duty death of a Copperas Cove Police Officer. The suspect was later located, and following a lengthy negotiation attempt, the suspect took his own life. No further information is available at this time.”
