The Killeen-Temple Metropolitan Planning Organization will have representatives in Copperas Cove on Saturday, Jan. 10 to receive public comments on transportation plans that include amendments for a future sidewalk project on Avenue D.

Last year, the City of Copperas Cove was awarded a project through the 2025 Transportation Alternatives (TA) project call, which is anticipated to be let out for bid in September 2027.

This project will construct sidewalk segments and ADA improvements along Avenue D and portions of F.M. 1113.

The sidewalk project will start the Avenue D/F.M. 1113 with Business 190 and continue along Avenue D all the way to past Copperas Cove High School to Myra Lou Avenue.

The estimated project cost when the City submitted it for consideration was $722,000 and would be 100 percent funded via Federal transportation.

This will include ADA-compliant curb ramps, crosswalks, drainage bridges, and safety lighting. Comments are sought for this project being added to the grouped project listing in the fiscal years 2025-2028 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

There will be an in-person meet-and-greet, open house style public comment session for this project amendment at the Copperas Cove Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 10:15 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Library is located at 501 S. Main St.

The public comments also include an opportunity for HOP revisions on the plan.

Comments may be received in any of the following ways, via email to KTMPO at ktmpo@ctcog.org, by phone at 254-770-2364, or by sending a written comment via U.S. Mail to: Killeen-Temple MPO, C/O Anita Janke, Proposed Amendments to the FY25-28 TIP & 2050 MTP for February STIP Revisions, P.O. Box 729, Belton, TX 76523.

Comments must be received or postmarked by Monday, Jan. 19, to be included in the official record of public meeting.
