Project Graduation volunteers to wrap gifts at Wal-mart
By LYNETTE SOWELL
The volunteers for Project Graduation 2018 are hoping Christmas shoppers will let them do the wrapping this year for donations.
Project Graduation will have a space outside Wal-Mart and will be wrapping gifts beginning Friday and continuing on specific dates through Christmas Eve.
Gift wrapping hours are: Friday, December 15, 1-8 p.m.; Saturday, December 16, 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Sunday, December 17, 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Thursday, December 21 and Friday, December 22, 10 a.m. until 1-8 p.m.; Saturday, December 23, 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.; and Sunday, December 24, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Shoppers need not purchase their gifts at Walmart in order to get their presents wrapped by the volunteers.
The group is accepting donations of wrapping paper, tape and gift tags at the wrapping locations. For more information, contact Dorothy Lyons at 254-290-0679.
This particular fundraiser is just one of the many that the group is counting on to bring in the funding to give the graduating seniors of 2018 a safe, fun, alcohol- and drug-free party on graduation night.
Project Graduation 2018 will also ramp up its fundraisers in the new year, first with a pancake breakfast at Applebees on Saturday, February 3 from 8-10 a.m. for $8 per person. Also on February 3, there will also be a fundraiser at Candy Outfitters from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., with coupons and special discounts for shoppers.
On February 3 and 4, they will have a bake sale at the Neighborhood Walmart on Clear Creek Road in Killeen. On March 1, the Subway at 214 W. Bus. 190 in Copperas Cove will also donate a portion of the proceeds from 5-8 p.m. to Project Graduation.
Funds raised from all events will be used for food, games, door prizes and more for the graduating seniors.
