Members of the Progress Cove group who circulated a Local Option Election Petition to legalize the sale of alcoholic beverages to include mixed drinks learned their official fate Tuesday evening, falling more than 500 verified signatures short of having a valid petition. The petition began circulation on June 11 and required 1,693 valid signatures to be placed on the ballot. Progress Cove collected a total of 1,819 signatures with 1,098 being verified.
