The Oakalla Volunteer Fire Department held its annual fish fry and auction on Saturday night, raising approximately $18,800 at the event.
Prep for the all-you-can-eat meal was done by volunteers, who served up 450 pounds of hand-breaded deep fried cat-fish, 70 pounds of french fries, 65 pounds of hush puppies, cole slaw, along with sweet tea and water which were served by the local Girl Scouts.
For dessert there was a 50-50 bake sale, with the proceeds being split between the fire department and Oakalla’s community center.
