Noon Exchange Club holds December 8 meeting

The Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove met on December 8 at Lil’ Tex Restaurant. President Mike Blount called the meeting to order, and Pastor Brian Hawkins led the invocation. Club Member JC Stubbs asked members to join in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Board Member Norma Crawford announced birthdays and anniversaries. 
During the opening announcements, President Blount thanked club members for supporting the annual Feast of Sharing held on November 16 at the Copperas Cove Civic Center. The club was able to provide over 675 Thanksgiving meals to the community. 
Next, Blount asked members to consider attending the upcoming Texas District Mid-Winter Conference to be held January 26 and January 27 at the Shilo Inn in Killeen. 
Board Member Dennis Ayres shared the first planning meeting date for the Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove’s Annual Mayfest 5K Color Run taking place on May 12 at Ogletree Gap. Money raised from the event will be donated to organizations that support or raise awareness for child abuse prevention.  
An induction ceremony followed the opening announcements. James Lanning, Ellen Lanning, Ashley Whitworth and Marc Payne were inducted as the Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove’s newest members. Sponsors include President Elect Ira Brand, Past President Inez Faison, Club Member Sandor Vegh and Board Member Marsha Siler.  
Following the induction ceremony, VP Public Relations Susan Ayres presented Francene Jones the Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove Senior Citizen of the Quarter Award. Jones was given the award for her dedication to the community demonstrated by her many volunteer hours.  
Next, President Mike Blount recognized Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove Secretary Melissa Rosa as the Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove Exchangite of the Quarter. Rosa has been actively involved in the club’s many activities and has recently assumed the role as Secretary for the club.
Finally, Past President Inez Faison led the scholarship auction. All the funds raised from the auction will be used to provide scholarships to select Copperas Cove High School seniors. Club Member James Lanning closed the meeting by asking members to join in the reading of the Covenant of Service. The club meets the second and fourth Friday of each month.
