Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove holds November meeting

Special to Leader-Press

CCISD Superintendent and Exchange Club member Joe Burns served as presenter for the Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove November 10 “One Nation Under God” meeting.
Board Member Paul Inman introduced Burns and gave a brief history about the Exchange Club’s One Nation Under God, which is an Exchange Club American citizenship project with the purpose of heightening awareness of America’s rich religious heritage.
Burns’ presentation aligned with the Exchange Clubs premise of strengthening individual and moral responsibility. He emphasized the important role religious faith and freedom has played in our nation’s history. Burns also reiterated the need for continued faith and unity to address the current catastrophes our country is facing.
Prior to the presentation President Mike Blount called the meeting to order, and Club Member Brian Hawkins led the invocation. Board Member Dennis Ayres asked members to join in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Club Member Norma Crawford announced birthdays and anniversaries. Blount shared opening announcements which included a reminder for the 20th Annual Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove and the City of Copperas Cove Feast of Sharing that took place at the Copperas Cove Civic Center. He also asked members to consider ringing the bell for the Salvation Army on December 2. Blount also thanked those who participated in the National October 26 “Make a Difference” Day Project at the Exchange Sunshine Home Apartments.
Following the One Nation Under God Presentation, the meeting closed with the scholarship auction led by Past President Inez Faison and the Reading of the Covenant of Service by Club Member Sandor Vegh. The Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove meets the second and fourth Friday of every month at Lil Tex Restaurant. For more information contact President Mike Blount at mblount002@hot.rr.com .
