Library observing National Library Week, Rally Day Festival

The Copperas Cove Public Library along with the Friends of the Library are having a weeklong celebration that kicks off on Monday, April 9 in conjunction with National Library Week, which will culminate on Saturday, April 14 with a Rally Day from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Starting Monday, library cups will be given to anyone who gets a new or renewed library card, and the first ten children to check out a book each day will receive a helium balloon.

On Muffin Monday, the first 50 library patrons to check out will receive a free muffin.

Then on Trivia Tuesday, patrons can take a trivia quiz to win a library cup. Then on WiFi Wednesday, those who show library staff their device is logged into the library’s network will receive a library cup.

On Theatre Thursday, those who check out a book based on a movie, or check out a movie based on a book or play, will receive a library cup.

For Photo Friday, patrons who post a photo on social media with a location tag at the library will also receive a library cup.

Then on Saturday, the library is holding a Rally Day Festival from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Local authors Elizabeth Moon, Helen Munday and Lynette Sowell will be signing books and chatting with fans.

Also, all the clubs and organizations that are sponsored by and meet at the library will also have tables and be on hand to talk about their activities.

The Friends of the Library will be giving new members a bag to fill with free books from the friends’ used book sale.

Lunch will be available from local restaurants for the price of a donation to the Friends of the Library.
