Library kicks off summer reading program next week

Registration is now under way for the Copperas Cove Public Library’s children’s summer reading program, free for children ages one through 15. 
Children ages one through 11 may complete Reading Time Logs at three levels to receive rewards of coupons and prizes for each level completed, with those who reach level three by the end of the program to be treated to a free pizza party courtesy of Domino’s.
The Copperas Cove Friends of the Library, along with the Texas Commission on the Arts, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, and area businesses sponsor the Summer Reading Program. 
Registration can be done at the library, where a full calendar of events is also available. 
Starting the week of June 12 will be programs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with programs for toddlers to teens.
For the Thursday afternoon programs, seating is limited to the first 150, with tickets available at the library at 9 a.m. the Thursday morning of each event.
Toddler Time will be held on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. for ages 1-3, and on Thursdays at 10 a.m. for ages 3-5.
The 2 p.m. Tuesday programs for ages 5-11 includes: 
June 12, Medieval Combat & Crafts, presented by the Society for Creative Anachronism
June 19, Learn CPR and healthy habits presented by Metroplex Hospital
June 26, Fire Safety, Copperas Cove Fire Department
July 3, Self Defense America martial arts demonstration 
July 10, Fun with STEM activities, presented by Barnes & Noble 
July 17, Music with Mr. Mac.
The 2 p.m. Wednesday program lineup for teens ages 11-15 includes: 
June 13 Learn to Draw Manga
June 20, Building Robots & Drones, presented by Barnes & Noble
June 27, Dance Party, learn to line dance from a professional instructor 
July 11, Learn to juggle from professional juggler Matt Tardy 
July 18, Create a video and learn video editing skills
The show lineup for all ages includes:
June 14, Wild Things Zoofari, with showtimes 2:00, 4:00 and 6 p.m. 
June 18, African Safari with Elizabeth Kahura, 2:00 and 6 p.m. 
June 28, Dinosaur George 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
July 5, Austin Reptile Show, 2, 4 and 6 p.m.
July 12, Lucas Miller, Singing Zoologist, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
July 19, John O’Bryant Magic show, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Children under age ten must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the library. Complete calendars and details will also be provided at sign-up. Registration for the program will continue through July 12.
