Memorial services are set for Cpt. Marvin “Mark” Taylor III, of Kempner, who passed away early Sunday morning, May 11.
A visitation will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove on Monday, May 19 from 1-5:30 p.m.., with a recitation of the Rosary and a eulogy at 6:30 p.m.
The funeral service will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove on Tuesday, May 20, at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery in Georgetown. A procession will follow the funeral service, led by the Killeen Fire Department. The route will begin at the church, travel through Killeen and end at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery in Georgetown, where the interment and final department honors will take place.
Seating at the church is limited to 400, with overflow seating planned.
A fundraiser has been set up to help his wife, Samantha Taylor, and her children at https://www.givesendgo.com/GGQQN. The fundraiser had topped $89,000 as of Thursday morning.
Rodney Bremby, 34, was arrested by Austin police and charged with intoxication manslaughter. Police said he was driving at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended the van driven by Taylor.
Taylor had served with the Killeen Fire Department for more than 10 years.
“Captain Taylor was known for his dedication, leadership, and countless deployments with Texas A&M Task Force 1 and TIFMAS. He will be remembered not only for his service, but for the impact he made on those around him,” the department announced on their social media page.
