This coming Monday marks 246 years since the Founding Fathers penned the famous words declaring their independence from British rule, and Copperas Cove residents have a few events to choose from to attend and celebrate the Fourth of July.

The VFW Post #8577 of Copperas Cove will be holding their annual 4th of July Ceremony on Monday, July 4 at 11 a.m. followed by a barbeque lunch featuring brisket, pulled pork, sausage and all the fixings and sides. The event is open to the public. The VFW is located at 1506 Veterans Avenue.

Robertson Avenue Baptist Church will be holding their 4th of July Picnic on the Grounds on Monday, July 4, from noon to 4 p.m. The event will feature food, music and games for both children and adults, including a bounce house, horseshoe and a cornhole competition. This event is free to the public. Robertson Avenue Baptist Church is located at 305 E. Robertson Avenue.

Cove Life Church will be hosting their second annual Fourth of July Celebration at City Park on Monday, July 4, from noon to 10:30 p.m. The event is free with free parking, free entertainment and free fireworks. There will be a $5 all day access arm band for the other activities which include a Ferris Wheel, a pirate ship carnival ride, inflatables (bounce houses, etc.) for kids, axe throwing courtesy of Black Axe Co., a video game trailer, and food trucks as well as vendor booths.

There will be performances by world renowned worship music artist Eddie James from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the fireworks show starting at approximately 9 p.m. On their Facebook page, Cove Life promises that the fireworks show will be bigger and better this year.

There will be a car show from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The entry fee for the car show is $20, and participants will receive a free Fourth of July tee shirt with their entry. Space is limited, so the car show is on a first come, first serve basis. To enter the car show, email covelifejuly4th@gmail.com with your name, contact number, year of vehicle, make and model of vehicle and list of mods.

There will be three prize categories: Best Coupe, Best Sedan and Best Overall. Best Coupe and Best Sedan first place winners will receive $350, and these categories are selected by judges. The Best Overall winner will receive a prize of $750, and the winner will be selected by popular vote, with attendees able to vote with their tickets.

The Copperas Cove City Park is located at 1206 W. Avenue B.
