Incumbents file for Copperas Cove Nov. 7 election

The filing period for the November 7, 2023 general election opened on Saturday, July 22, and so far, the two Copperas Cove city council incumbents have filed for reelection. 

Vonya Hart, who currently holds Place 6 on the Copperas Cove city council, filed on July 24 as received by the city. She was elected to office in November 2020. 

Jack Smith, who currently holds Place 7, likewise filed on July 24. Smith was first elected in 2019. 

Electing filing continues through Monday, August 21. 

Election packets are available online at https://www.copperascovetx.gov/city_secretary/election_information/, and may be dropped off between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., at 914 South Main St., Ste. D. Completed packets may be mailed to P.O. Drawer 1449, Copperas Cove TX 76522. Packets may be emailed to lwilson@copperascovetx.gov

Places 6 and 7 on the Copperas Cove Independent School District board of trustees are also on the ballot for November. 

Place 6 is currently held by John Gallen, who was first elected in November 2020. 

Gallen has filed to run for reelection. 

Place 7 is currently held by Dr. Karen Harrison, who was first elected in 2011. 

Candidate applications may be mailed or hand-delivered to Copperas Cove ISD, 408 S. Main St., Copperas Cove, TX 76522. 

Candidate applications for the CCISD board of trustees can be found online at https://files.gabbart.com/1223/boardpacket.pdf. 

Copperas Cove ISD will accept candidate applications Monday–Friday, during regular hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the last day to file for a place on the ballot, Monday, August 21, the offices will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
