Homecoming king, queen to be crowned Friday

Three young men and three young women who are seniors at Copperas Cove High School will take to the field of Bulldawg Stadium and learn whose names will be called as the homecoming king and queen for 2017.
The Homecoming Court was named last week, with duchesses, Hailey Colbath, Freshman Duchess; Madisen Honea, Sophomore Duchess; and Alexis Grasso, Junior Duchess. 
The finalists for Homecoming King and Queen are Derrick Burleson, Amari Johnson, and Michael Pastrano, for King; and Ariel Lewis, Carleigh Ross, and Ariana Wilson for Queen. 
Derrick is sponsored by Cheer and is the son of Derrick Burleson. He has aspirations of becoming a counselor or family therapist after completing college as a Psychology major. Amari Johnson is sponsored by the Excel Club and is the son of Christina Johnson. He plans to attend Texas State and study kinesiology. Michael Pastrano is sponsored by the Spanish National Honor Society and is the son of Michael and Melissa Pastrano. Michael plans to study medicine and become a doctor. 
Ariel Lewis is sponsored by Wrestling, and is the daughter of Milton and Cleo McDonald. She plans to attend the University of San Antonio and become a social worker. Carleigh Ross is sponsored by the Excel Club and is the daughter of Amanda Sawyer. She will attend the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and study premed with the end goal of being a surgeon. Ariana Wilson, sponsored by DECA, is the daughter of Shanell and Adrian Wilson. She plans to major in kinesiology and become a physical therapist.
Ninth grade Duchess Hailey Colbath is sponsored by Soccer and is the daughter of Kim West and Michael Colbath, and aspires to become a pediatrician. Sophomore Duchess Madisen Honea is sponsored by Basketball, and is the daughter of Tracy Honea. Madisen wants to be a teacher and a coach. Junior Duchess Alexis Grasso, sponsored by Health Occupation Students of America, is the daughter of Sabrina Deloach and Christopher Grasso. She would like to be a cardiothoracic surgeon.
