Gatesville police report second fatality in Coryell Memorial explosion

A second construction worker has passed away from injuries received in the Tuesday afternoon explosion at the construction site at Coryell Memorial Hospital in Gatesville.

Gatesville Police Chief Nathan Gohlke announced Friday that the second fatality was Filiberto Morales, age 36, of Round Rock.  

“Mr. Morales was working at the construction site on the day of the explosion. He was ultimately transported to Scott and White Hospital in Temple, where he passed away from his injuries on June 28, 2018, at 3:45 p.m. He was an employee of Network Controls.”

Michael Bruggman, 43, of Rogers, working as a subcontractor for Lochridge Priest, died during the explosion.

Fifteen injured in the explosion were transported to area hospitals. There has been no other update on the status of the other victims still being treated.

Gohlke said Gatesville Police will continue to provide updates as needed.
