Fort Hood announces permanent closure of on-post Tax Center
Special to the Leader-Press
Fort Hood announced on Thursday, Jan. 26, that “Due to an increased mission set in the Fort Hood Legal Assistance Office, tax assistance will no longer be offered for service members and retirees here.”
The post stated in a press release that personnel are encouraged to consider the following options.
One is Military OneSource MilTax, which is a free software for preparing and e-filing federal and state taxes. Soldiers can also call a MilTax expert 24 hours, seven days a week, at (800) 342-9647.
To find more information, visit their website at https://www.militaryonesource.mil/financial-legal/taxes/miltax-military-....
The second option offered is visiting a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance location in the area, which provides free in-person assistance with federal taxes for qualifying individuals.
