Lifelong Copperas Cove resident Lovett Leslie “Les” Ledger will be the 50th recipient of the Book of Golden Deeds, and will be recognized at a banquet on Friday, April 11, which starts at 6 p.m.

The Exchange Club Book of Golden Deeds program honors the quiet, good deeds of America’s unsung heroes who make a difference in the local community.

Ledger is a member of the Copperas Cove High School class of 1962 and his service to the community and region has been for well over 60 decades. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southwest Texas State, and a master’s degree in business from the University of Texas in Austin.

He became the manager and owner of one of Copperas Cove’s icons of business, Ledger Furniture.

Les served as the President of the Chamber of Commerce for 10 years, on the Copperas Cove Planning and Zoning commission, and served as the head of the Copperas Cove United Way.

Les continued to impact future generations through classes he taught in Central Texas College. Also, for more than 40 years, he was a volunteer announcer at the Copperas Cove High School varsity home football games on Friday night.

The banquet, sponsored by all three Copperas Cove clubs, the Exchange Club of Copperas Cove, the Noon Exchange Club, and the Cen Tex Exchange Club.

The event will also honor the Youth, ACE, and Excel students of the year.
