Election filing period opens July 22 for Nov. 7 election

The November 7, 2023 general election may be nearly four months away, but the filing period will open on Saturday, July 22 and continue through Monday, August 21. 

Two positions on the Copperas Cove Independent School District board of trustees as well as two positions on the Copperas Cove City Council will be on the ballot. 

For the CCISD board of trustees, Places 6 and 7 are up for election. 

Place 6 is currently held by John Gallen, who was first elected in November 2020. 

Place 7 is currently held by Dr. Karen Harrison, who was first elected in 2011. 

Candidate applications may be mailed or hand-delivered to Copperas Cove ISD, 408 S. Main St., Copperas Cove, TX 76522. 

Candidate applications can be found online at https://files.gabbart.com/1223/boardpacket.pdf. 

Copperas Cove ISD will accept candidate applications Monday–Friday, during regular hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the last day to file for a place on the ballot, Monday, August 21, the offices will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On the Copperas Cove city council, Places 6 and 7 are also up for election. 

Election packets will be available online at https://www.copperascovetx.gov/city_secretary/election_information/, and may be dropped off between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., at 914 South Main St., Ste. D. Completed packets may be mailed to P.O. Drawer 1449, Copperas Cove TX 76522. Packets may be emailed to lwilson@copperascovetx.gov

Place 6 is currently held by Vonya Hart, who was elected in 2020. 

Place 7 is currently held by Jack Smith, who was first elected in 2019.
