Cove youngster wins most unique lemonade in area

Special to Leader-Press

Copperas Cove resident Adyson Aus wowed judges at the 2017 Best Tasting Lemonade Contest, held at the Harker Heights Community Park on Saturday. His watermelon and cucumber lemonade earned him the Most Unique Lemonade Award. Mayor Frank Seffrood was one of five judges tasked with making the difficult decision.
The eighth annual Best Tasting Lemonade Contest, sponsored by H-E-B, gathered children from the Fort Hood Area community to showcase their lemonade recipes by providing samples to local VIP judges. VIP judges for the event included Mayor Rob Robinson of Harker Heights, Mayor Frank Seffrood of Copperas Cove, Garrison Commander of Fort Hood, Col. Todd Fox, KWTX Morning Anchor Taina Maya and H-E-B Plus Store Director, Scott Presuhn.
The Best Tasting Lemonade Contest is held every year and is one of three contests designed to reward the hard work of local young entrepreneurs. After Lemonade Day, participants can submit entries for the Best Stand Contest and Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Lemonade Day is a free program dedicated to teaching children, Pre-K through high school, how to start, own and operate their own business. Lemonade Day is presented by First National Bank Texas and Fort Hood National Bank, along with Fort Hood Family Housing and local sponsors H-E-B and CenturyLink.
This year, Lemonade Day is Saturday, May 6. For more information about Lemonade Day, visit http://forthood.lemonadeday.org.
