Cove Parks and Recreation soccer playoffs underway

The Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation Department fall soccer playoffs got underway last week with the Fort Hood Team USA squad claiming the crown in the 12-and-under coed league with a 3-1 win over Holland last Wednesday at Copperas Cove City Park’s Field 8.
Fort Hood Team USA finished the season a perfect 9-0, including their 7-1 playoff win over England (2-6) and Holland (7-1).
The 10U boys began their playoffs last night at 6:45 p.m. on City Park’s Field 7 (results not available at press time).
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich earned first round byes by finishing tied atop the division at 6-0. Juventus (3-4) took on Aston Villa (1-6) for a chance to face Real Madrid while Chelsea and Arsenal faced off for a chance at Bayern Munich. The 10U boys will get back to action tomorrow night (Wednesday) at 5:45 p.m. to determine the two teams fighting for the league crown.
The 10U girls will get underway tomorrow  on Field 7 with their opening round contests. Tottenham currently leads the division at 5-0 followed by Barcelona (5-1), Manchester United (3-3), Liverpool (1-5) and Inter (1-6). Barcelona faced off with Tottenham for the top spot last night after Tottenham opened the double-header against Inter (results not available at press time). Manchester United also faced Liverpool to determine the playoff matchups.
The 8U boys will conclude their regular season tonight with the Rapids (3-1-1) having a double-header against the Earthquakes (1-4-1) and Sounders (3-2). The Sounders will open a double-header against the Timbers (0-6) while the undefeated Dynamo (6-0) will try to stay that way with their finale against the Fire (2-2-2).
The 8U boys’ playoffs will begin Thursday at 5:45 p.m. on Field 6.
The 8U girls will get underway at 5:45 p.m. tonight with the Union (2-5) facing off with the Red Bulls (2-5) on Field 5A while the Galaxy (5-2) will take on the Revolution (0-7) at the same time on Field 5B.
The winner of Union/Red Bulls will face Impact (6-1) an hour later for a trip to Thursday’s title game. The Galaxy/Revolution winner will face the Crew (6-1) also at 6:45 p.m. for the other title contender.
The nine-team 6U West division concluded their season on Saturday as did the eight-team 6U East division. Scores and results are not kept for the 6U teams.
