Cove Chamber giving away swag bags for Small Business Saturday

Leader-Press publication includes business map today

Tomorrow throughout Copperas Cove, small businesses will be celebrated as the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce and more than 30 local businesses take part in Small Business Saturday, held annually the Saturday after Thanksgiving. 

The day kicks off at 10 a.m., with free swag bags available at the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce offices, located at 204 E. Robertson Ave. 

On Page 8 of today’s publication, there is a map showing all the businesses participating in Small Business Saturday.

This year, passports will be distributed at the chamber office to shoppers, who can get stamps in their passports which should be returned to the chamber of commerce office by Dec. 16, to be entered into a drawing for prizes. 

Shoppers must make a $5 purchase at each of seven businesses on the list, and also stop by the chamber of commerce tent at Krist Kindl Markt. 

The winners will receive gift baskets donated by local businesses. 

This year, at least a dozen of those local businesses have chosen to promote themselves and their special sales on the map available on Page 8 of today’s Leader-Press. 

Bits ‘N Bites Cake Shop, located on Avenue D, is offering $1 cupcakes all day Saturday, as well as having raffle prizes. 

Cove Terrace Shopping Center is home to a number of businesses which hope that shoppers will stop by their storefronts. 

Nedlewerkes is offering 25 percent off everything from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, with Healthy Hub offering special discounts on shakes, the Friends Helping Veterans & Kids Thrift Store offering a storewide sale on Friday and Saturday, with all items 25 cents. 

The Five Hills Art Guild, also housed in Cove Terrace Shopping Center, is offering prints for sale of the Copperas Cove murals, and has classes and private painting parties available. 

Chick-fil-A might not be a “small” local business, but is also offering a special discount card for shoppers who come by, and Black Meg 43 is offering a special gift certificate sale of buy $20 gift certificate, get a $10 gift certificate free. 

Frames & Things, another business located in Cove Terrace Shopping Center, is offering discounts on custom framing and framed print purchases, with shoppers encouraged to stop by and put their names in for a $200 store gift certificate. 

Buddy’s Home Furnishings on Business 190 is offering discounts on new rentals and more, both Friday and Saturday. 

Heading to the west end of Copperas Cove, shoppers with canine friends can stop by Soggy Doggies for a free cookie for their dog. 

Two miles west of the intersection of Highway 190 and F.M. 2657, lies Camp Caylor on the corner of Highway 190 and County Road 4814. 

Camp Caylor, dubbed the “day camp for grownups”, is offering 10% off all day tomorrow. Camp Caylor serves up a variety of wine and craft beer, and will have plenty of vendors on site throughout the day on Saturday. 

2019 marks the 10th anniversary of Small Business Saturday, a nationwide endeavor sponsored by American Express which encourages shoppers to “shop small.” Registration for the event is free through American Express, which has also provided giveaways for small businesses to use as they market to the local community. 

The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce spearheads efforts in Copperas Cove, with business owners donating gift baskets as door prizes.
