A bid for a three-phase cart path renovation for the Hills of Cove Golf Course is up for a decision by the Copperas Cove city council at its first meeting for the month of June tonight at 6 p.m., to take place at the city’s technology center, located at 508 S. 2nd St.
The recommended bid came in at $679,261 from Myers Concrete Contractors, LP, and would be funded by certificate of obligation bonds, with phase 1 of $372,931 already designated from 2016-2018 funding, and phases 2 and 3 of $170,000 each being funded in 2019 and 2020.
The council will also discuss and set an effective date to move the Economic Development Department employees out from under the control and direction of the City Manager, the decision and transition plan which has been the subject of discussion by both the council and the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation board for several months.
A decision to select a firm for city manager recruitment is on the agenda this evening, an item which the council postponed at the last council meeting. The council also has an executive session on the agenda to discuss it with the city attorney.
The purchase of radio equipment for the fire department, and the disposal of older radio equipment is being brought to the council for approval, along with an amendment to the city’s code for leak and pool filling rates, and an amendment to the service agreement between the Parks & Recreation Department and C&H Hawaiian Grill for concessions at city pool facilities.
The appointing of members to the 2018 city Charter Review Committee is on the agenda, with the city having received applications from Albert Castillo, Julie Norman, Jack Smith, and Bob Weiss for that committee.
Also included in the city council’s executive session planned for tonight, is a discussion with the city attorney about the interim city manager and a discussion about Kempner Water Supply ligation.
During the city council workshop at 5 p.m., employee service recognitions for the month of June will be presented, along with the awarding of the Adam Luciano Heart of Volunteerism Scholarship by Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful.
